Domestic and Residential
Candlemas Lane, Beaconsfield
What do you do with an ever expanding family? Have an ever expanding home.
As your family grows, their needs change and so do the requirements of your home. With three small children and another on the way, our clients needed more room to feed their growing clan.
We were asked to provide an open space, so our clients could cook, while keeping an eye on the kids. The house was fortunate enough to be on a large site where we created a simple extension, sympathetic to the 1930’s building, with a nod to more modern times, with the use of large Velux rooflights letting the light flood in.
Fast forward five years; baby number three is at school, the big kids are teenagers and there’s another one on the way. Our clients wanted space that allowed them to be together as a family, yet allow the little ones to play with abandon, while the teens could escape to do homework (or xbox!) in peace.
The solution was to design a play room, off the main living space at the rear of the house, with a study above. Leading from the study, and over the existing single storey garage, a new bedroom was provided.
A happy client?
“Planning an extension whilst juggling a busy family life can feel daunting. But I needn’t have worried. Right from the first meeting, Phil visualised spaces I would never have thought possible in our home. The result? A freely flowing, light and airy home, with just enough social space and quiet areas to meet the needs of our family. All with the minimum of hassle from the first drawings to last brick laid.” Heather Rose – homeowner – Candlemas Lane.
